''The House of the Dead 2'' is an Arcade Game , developed and published by Sega for the Arcade in 1998 and later ported to the Sega Dreamcast and Microsoft Windows . Like its forebearer, '' The House Of The Dead '', this video game is a Light Gun game, focused on zombie-shooting action and the ability to use either a controller or a light gun as an input device. ''The House of the Dead 2'' included auto-reload; when a player pointed the gun off-screen, it would automatically reload (no need to shoot) and also incorported multiple routes. GAME CHARACTERS After the Curien Mansion Case of 1998, the AMS has launched an investigation concerning the cause of the incident, so that the world would not experience such a horror again. In 2000, however, strange happenings are reported in the town of Venice, the last known location of AMS agent G. Two AMS agents, James and Gary, are dispatched to investigate...
An agent of the AMS and one of the two main characters of this game. James, along with Gary, is sent to investigate the strange happenings within Venice. After battling many of the undead shambling in the streets and rivers, James discovers that a man named Goldman was responsible for the incident. After defeating Goldman's ultimate creation, The Emperor, James attempts to arrest Goldman, who then commits suicide by falling from the 50th floor of the Goldman Building, the headquarters of the DBR Corporation.
An agent of the AMS and one of the two main characters of this game. Gary was James' partner during the events of ''House of the Dead 2''. He was young for an agent, only 24 years old in 2000.
In 2000, G was investigating the activities of Goldman, the CEO of the DBR Corporation, but was injured by zombies. James and Gary encounter him in a ransacked library, where G gives them a report of his investigation entitled "G's File", which gave details on the undead experiments performed by the DBR Corporation.
An agent of the AMS, Harry, along with fellow agent Amy Crystal, helped evacuate Venice during the undead siege, as well as help James and Gary carry out their missions.
An agent of the AMS, Amy, along with fellow agent Harry Harris, helped evacuate Venice during the undead siege, as well as help James and Gary carry out their missions.
The CEO of the DBR Corporation, Caleb Goldman was the primary funder of Dr. Roy Curien's research into the nature of life and death. Disillusioned by the greed and selfishness of humans, Goldman attempted to use Dr. Curien's research to destroy humankind in an attempt to save the balance of the world. When AMS agents James Taylor and Gary Stewart defeated Goldman's creation, The Emperor, Goldman himself fell from the 50th floor of his building, stating that a successor would come in time.
Judgment actually consists of two creatures - Kuarl (a 3-meter tall, headless humanoid wearing plate armor and carrying a large, bloodstained polearm axe) and Zeal (an tiny, red-skinned, imp-like creature that can fly at incredible speed). Both Kuarl and Zeal were likely attempts by Goldman to recreate The Chariot and The Hanged Man, but defects in their creation pressed for a tag-team force. Zeal telepathically controlled the mindless Kuarl, who was almost invincible due to its heavy armor. Because of this, James and Gary had to attack Zeal in order to stop Kuarl's attacks. Eventually, Kuarl and Zeal were defeated. (He is similar to the Chariot)
A large humanoid with scaly, dark green skin with scraggly patches of black hair on its head. This creature carried a large trident and had the ability to breathe underwater and control certain fish (such as piranhas). The Hierophant had a gill-like vital organ in its chest, which was protected by a ribcage that similar to a venus fly-trap. The Hierophant lead an assault on Venice's waterways during the undead siege, but was stopped by James and Gary.
The Tower consisted of five giant, segmented, worm-like creatures with maws filled with sharp teeth. One of the creatures was blue with a crest of bone on its head while the other four Slave Heads were orange in color. It is unknown whether they shared a hive mind or were independent in terms of intelligence, though the Master Head seemed to possess the ability to thrive away from its counterparts. The Tower stalked the sewers of Venice during the incident in 2000. It was killed by James and Gary in their mission to stop the undead siege.
Strength was a large zombie with blue sacking covering its head. It had an axe lodged in its right shoulder and carried an enormous chainsaw with the word "Blame" etched on its surface. Strength was left as a parting gift from Goldman in a colisseum, first injuring Harry, then chasing down James and Gary in a game of cat and mouse until they defeated it.
In 2000, The Magician is revived by Goldman. This version of The Magician, unlike the first, did not have a bug in its programming, and was better armored than its predecessor. It was loyal to The Emperor, and challenged James and Gary atop "Pandora's Box" in the DBR building courtyard.
The result of a top secret experiment by Goldman, this creature was designed to "rule and hate humankind". When it was encountered by James and Gary, it was still in an experimental stage, so it was not yet fully developed. The Emperor was composed of a genetic compound known as the "Emperor Serum," which allowed it to shape and reshape its body at will, transforming its arm into a lance, and taking on the basic forms of other bosses. In addition, The Emperor had the ability to float, and even become a being of pure energy. It was narrowly defeated by James and Gary. TRIVIA ''House of the Dead 2'' would serve as the springboard for the arcade, Dreamcast, and PC release '' Typing Of The Dead '', as well as the inspiration for the Game Boy Advance game '' Pinball Of The Dead ''. The flashback to the first ''House of The Dead'' (in the Sega Dreamcast version) was actually recorded using the game's engine. Until shortly before the game's release, the first House of The Dead game was to be offered as a digitally remastered extra after completing the game. However, due to bugs that would have prevented the console version of the game from launching alongside Sega Dreamcast, it was removed and was originally the subject of many rumours that were eventually dispelled. This remastering concept continued with '' The House Of The Dead III '', where ''The House of the Dead 2'' was offered in the Xbox version as a bonus extra. EXTERNAL LINKS |
