Formed by Deke Sharon while still a member of the Tufts University Beelzebubs , the original lineup was comprised of graduates of Collegiate A Cappella groups. The House Jacks were the first group to feature a designated Vocal Percussionist ( Andrew Chaikin , who now also performs as Kid Beyond ), and used their voices to replicate instruments and weave dense vocal textures, helping to pioneer the Contemporary A Cappella sound.
