Caused by being too far from the TV transmitter, or by a fault in the Antenna or Coaxial Cable connecting the TV to the Antenna . Such a situation can be helped by the use of a Preamp , but be warned that preamps often make EMC problems such as those caused by nearby Transmitters much worse. Many preamps are too broad band, it is best to fit a High Pass or Band Pass Filter to the input of the preamp. The best solution for weak signal problems is to get a better antenna with a higher gain, be careful to make sure that it is pointing in the right direction as the higher gain Yagi Antenna has a more narrow beam width than a low gain array. So pointing the Aerial in the right direction is more critical for the higher gain antenna. The wonderful advantage of a higher gain aerial is that it can not be overwhelmed by a high field strength. |
