A technology evangelist is a person whose job is to assist organizations adopting new technologies. The role of Technology Evangelist was first created by Guy Kawasaki while working for Apple Computer in the late 1980s when the Apple Macintosh was first being marketed. Technology evangelism is closely related to both a sales and training role but has very specific skills related to technology marketing and convincing a potential buyer or user to change from an old way of doing things to a new way of doing things. Technology Evangelism is sometimes associated with an internal employee assigned to encourage new ways of doing things within a large organization. The marketing aspect of this role was strongly influenced by Geoffrey Moore and his books concerning Technology Adoption including ''Crossing the Chasm'', ''Inside the Tornado'', ''The Gorilla Game'', and ''Living on the Fault Line''. Technology adoption recognises that people and organizations fall into different categories about how quickly they adopt new technologies. Other concepts related to technology evangelism can be found in Neil Rackham's book ''SPIN Selling''. Rackham introduces the concepts of allowing a potential user of a product or service to visualize themselves using a new technology through implicit questions. SEE ALSO REFERENCES
