''This article is about a type of Cake . Tea cake can also be used to describe Compressed Tea .'' A Teacake is a Cake often split, toasted, buttered, and served with Tea . It is most often seen in European countries, mostly in England. It may also be served sliced in half and filled with chips, as a Chip Butty (french fry sandwich). The English teacake is flat, circular and roughly 15cm in diameter. It is made out of bread, with a smooth brown upper surface and a somewhat lighter underside. The teacake should not be confused with an unrelated Confectionery product called the Tunnock's Tea Cake . |
