On 2005 - 01-01 , Luftfartsverket was split up and a new authority, the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority , was formed:

  • The Swedish Civil Aviation Administration (retains the name Luftfartsverket) manages state-owned airports and air traffic control.

  • The Swedish Civil Aviation Authority (Luftfartsstyrelsen) regulates the aviation market and oversees safety aspects.
