Super Bowl XLIV will be the 44th Super Bowl , the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) between the National Football Conference (NFC) and American Football Conference (AFC) champions. The game is scheduled to be played on February 7 2010 at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida , the tenth time the Super Bowl has been hosted in the Miami metro area. The game will also become the latest date for a Super Bowl since The First One in 1967 , supplanting Super Bowl XXXIX on February 6 2005 . The game will be televised in the United States on CBS . Originally on , Houston, Texas , and Miami. The league eventually selected Miami on October 6 . Barring a change in the NFL's practices, the Super Bowl will most likely never be played in New York City , as the league has traditionally only allowed Super Bowls in cold winter climate cities if they have a domed stadium, such as the Detroit, Michigan and Minneapolis, Minnesota areas.
