Super Bowl XLII will be the 42nd Super Bowl , the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) between the National Football Conference (NFC) and American Football Conference (AFC) champions. The game is scheduled to be played on February 3 , 2008 at the Cardinals Stadium in Glendale, Arizona , which will open in 2006. The game will be televised on FOX , and will most likely be called by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman . In the wake of the September 11, 2001 Attacks , NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue announced the idea of holding Super Bowl XLII in either New York City or Washington, D.C. as a way of helping both areas rebuild economically.
