The Student Health and Fitness Act also currently known as Senate Bill (SB) 474 has the potential to effect every schoolchild in Georgia_%28U.S._state%29 grades K-8. Basically, students who this will effect will be required to take a certain amount of Physical Education, Nutrition, or a myriad of other types of classes every single day for all nine years. HOW REAL IS THIS? As of February 28, 2006, the Act is at the '''House Second Readers'''. WHAT WILL BE THE SIDE EFFECTS? In short, this Act will directly effect the Forein Language and Fine Arts departments of both Elementary and Middle Schools in Georgia. One projected schedule would reduce all Fine Arts classes to a bare minimum of instruction time for only two days a week. This would bring School_band , Orchestra and Choir programs of many successful High Schools to a halt and would force all classes to begin at an introductory level. Furthermore, incredible Georgia teachers of such subjects will be forced to leave if they are not able to teach regularly. Schools will also have to hire a myriad of Physical Education instructors in order to be able to instruct every single student on a daily basis. WHAT CAN I DO?
