Sports Architecture




The architecture of buildings indoors and outdoors which are used for sports, from Greek times to Wimbelton, the Olympic stadiums, velodromes, hippodromes, hockey arenas, polo fields with viewing stands, and football stadiums of the modern day. Including as well, buildings used by spectators of these games, especially those unique and of a small size, such as equestrian rings, and aspects of terrain which have been permanently modified for the use of sports.
