Immigration Southeast Asian Americans were the second Asian immigrant group to arrived in the USA and they arrived at different times. The first group were the Filipino American s who arrived in November 3, 1903 to work as field laborers. The second group were the Thai American s who arrived in 1830, but the major immigrations to the USA started from 1960 to the present. Vietnamese American s first arrived as the brides of US service men stationed in Vietnam with greater immigration after April 30, 1975 due to the end of the Vietnam War . Cambodian American s first immigrated to the USA as students sent abroad by their families. After 1975 larger groups of Cambodian Americans arrived as refugees. Hmong American s also arrived as refugees after 1975. |
