South Dakota School Of Mines And Technology




SDSM&T is organized into two colleges. The College of Science and Letters contains the departments of Atmospheric Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics and Computer Science, Chemistry, Militarty Science, Physical Education, and the Physics department. The College of Engineering contains the departments of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Geology and Geological Engineering, and the Mining Engineering and Management Program.

Modern day "Mines" provides a number of degree programs for students including 16 engineering and science undergraduate programs, 12 master's degree programs and 4 PhD programs. Undergraduate programs include Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Geological Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mining Engineering, Interdisciplinary Sciences, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Mining Engineering and Management, and Mechanical Engineering. SDSM&T has doctoral programs in Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences, Geology and Geological Engineering, Materials Engineering and Science, and Nanoscience and Nanoengineering.

SDSM&T has a number of student organizations. The Greek organizations include Alpha Chi Sigma, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Omega Epsilon, Delta Sigma Phi, Theta Tau, and Triangle. Student government organizations include the Resident Hall Association and the Student Association. Student media organizations include KTEQ (the campus radio station) and "the Raver" (the campus newspaper, formerly known as "the Tech").

SDSM&T has an average undergraduate enrollment of about 1700 students. SDSM&T has a total enrollment of about 2400 students.
