Social Anarchism is a term self-applied by many Anarchists of the Libertarian Socialist thread of anarchism. Social anarchism includes (but is not limited to) Anarcho-communism , Anarcho-syndicalism and Social Ecology . A document called An Anarchist FAQ claims that Mutualism is a form of social anarchism, however mutualism is commonly regarded to be an individualist anarchist economic system. They use the term to diffentiate themselves from Individualist Anarchists and sometimes to distinguish themselves from what they see as a personalistic ideology of social accommodation that presents no threat to the existing powers, what they refer to as Lifestyle Anarchism . 'Social anarchist' is often used in contrast to the often derogatory 'lifestylist', a classification usually denied and rejected. BOOKCHIN AND ''THE UNBRIDGEABLE CHASM'' Anarchist author . The term is presented as a set of theory and practice in opposition to Lifestyle Anarchism , the practice and justifaction of Individualism at the expense of class struggle. Bookchin believed that anarchism was losing its focus on "the complete transformation of a hierarchical, class, and irrational society into a libertarian communist one" in favor of "personal well-being, spiritual redemption, and self-realization within the existing society". Bookchin identifies social anarchism with the ' Left ', by which he refers to the "great tradition of human solidarity and a belief in the potentiality for humanness", internationalism and confederalism, the democratic spirit, anti-militarism, and rational secularism. Whereas social anarchism aims for "free association of people living together and cooperating in free communities" {Link without Title} , Bookchin sees lifestylism as an anti-rationalist attack on society itself.
