Information AboutSilver (starflyer 59 Album) |
''Silver'' is the debut Album of Jason Martin 's Starflyer 59 , released in 1993 on Tooth & Nail Records , a Christian record label. At the time of its release, the album was considered exceptionally unique for an ethereal and occasionally gloomy musical tone which more closely resembled the sounds of mainstream artists such as My Bloody Valentine and the Smashing Pumpkins than of any other band in the world of Christian pop music. ''Silver'', with its heavily distorted and effects-drenched guitars, seems to contrast drastically with the band's more later work, which is characterized by a cleaner, more broadly orchestrated sound. However, despite its considerable stylistic distance from Martin's later work, most fans still recognize ''Silver'' as distinctly Starflyer, and consider it a solid and promising debut from a band that would eventually go on to produce numerous truly great albums. The album was reissued in 2005 as an extended edition which also included the full track listing from Starflyer's follow-up EP '' She's The Queen ''. The extended edition was digitally remastered and was packaged with slightly different artwork from that of the original release, replacing a solid silver cover with an illustration of a silver crown and leaving out the liner notes which originally accompanied the album.
