Sicily Island is a village located in Catahoula Parish, Louisiana . As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 453. GEOGRAPHY Sicily Island is located at 31°50'48" North, 91°39'32" West (31.846573, -91.658925). According to the United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 1.5 Km&2 (0.6 Mi&2 ). 1.5 km&2 (0.6 mi&2) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 453 people, 197 households, and 110 families residing in the village. The Population Density was 306.8/km&2 (790.4/mi&2). There were 245 housing units at an average density of 166.0/km&2 (427.5/mi&2). The racial makeup of the village was 44.81% White , 54.53% African American , 0.00% Native American , 0.00% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.22% from Other Races , and 0.44% from two or more races. 0.88% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 197 households out of which 27.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.0% were Married Couples living together, 19.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.7% were non-families. 41.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 21.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.30 and the average family size was 3.23. In the village the population was spread out with 30.0% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 81.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.2 males.
