The Shorewood High School features a strong academic program, as well as a strong Music , Art , and Drama programs.

The mascot of Shorewood is the Thunderbirds or T-Birds.



STUDENTS

Approximately 1800 students in Grades 9-12 attend Shorewood.


Academics

Shorewood has Advanced Placement (AP) offerings in mathematics and other subjects. Approximately 12% of students took one or more AP exams in 2003. Eight National Merit finalists have come from Shorewood. Most students go on to a two or four year college after graduation.

Extensive vocational training, including business and computer training, is also available to students on campus.


Music

Shorewood is home to numerous bands and musical groups, including ''Beg, Borrow, and Steel,'' a Steel Drum band, and a nationally recognized Jazz band. In 2005 , the Shorewood Jazz band won honorable mention in the ''Essentially Ellington'' competition in New York .

FACULTY

As of 2006, there are more than 100 full and part time faculty members at Shorewood High School. Faculty have on average approximately twelve years of teaching experience, and 72% of faculty have graduate degrees. Biology teacher Paul Witt was awarded State Biology Teacher of the year for 2004-05.
