School District 79, is located in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island , British Columbia , Canada . It comprises of numberous elementary ( Kindergarten -Grade 6 or 7), middle (Grade 6-9) and Secondary (Grade 8-12) schools, alternative schools for programs like adult education. The district used to go under the name, ''School District 65'', before a re-alignment of the BC districts.

The current Superintendent of SD 79 is Peter Porte.
