''Sarge'' is a Codename for the Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 Distribution which went from Testing to Stable on June 6th 2005 . The previous stable release was '' Woody ''. It is named after the Sarge character from the animated film Toy Story . Sarge can be installed using the Debian-Installer , a new and easier installation routine, with integrated hardware detection and X configuration. Post configuration has also been made easier, through integration of the Debconf tool into most of the existing packages. MAIN PACKAGES Packages in the distribution include:
HARDWARE ARCHITECTURES At the moment of release, sarge was available for 11 architectures, the same as which ''woody'' was available for: On June 9th 2005 , three days after Sarge's release, the port of Sarge to AMD64 architecture was also declared stable.
