Saint John's Preparatory School (new York City)




Saint John's Preparatory School was founded by Vincentian priests in 1870 in the Bushwick - Williamsburg area of Brooklyn . In 1880, the preparatory school was officially made distinct from the college. St. John's Prep moved to its present location in Queens in 1961 and changed its name to Mater Christi Diocesean High School. The name was changed back to Saint John's Preparatory School in 1981.

The school's motto, taken from John 10:10, is "That they may have life more abundantly."
