Safety barriers are systems that stop or prevent adverse events from happening. They are normally used to mitigate the Risk in an industrial system. Safety barriers are one of the three elements in the Hazard-Barrier-Target model, which is studied in safety science. Safety barriers help guarantee one's safety and keep them from pushing it to the limit. Barriers can be Hard Barriers able to keep people out or light barriers called - light curtains - tied into the control circuit and able to stop the machine or process safely if the barrier is entered (broken) Light Curtians are required to allow access to a dangerous area that is surrounded by hard barriers. |
