The municipality of Sabana Grande was founded in 1813 by Pedro de Acosta, it is known in Spanish as "El Pueblo de los Prodigios" which translates to "The Town of Supernatural Occurrences." People from this municipality are referred to a "sabaneños." The town gets is nickname from the fact that so many "sabaneños" have proven to be local prodigies. Among these are: Augusto Malaret, Manuel Quevedo-Baez, Fidel Velez, Domingo Rosado, Triburcio de la Espada, Angel M. Saavedra, and Adalberto Rodríguez (better know as "Machuchal"). EXTERNAL LINKS |
