The Diocese of Detroit, erected on March 8 , 1833 , was elevated to Archdiocese on May 22 , 1937 . The following is a list of the Roman Catholic Archbishops of the Diocese and Archdiocese of Detroit (and their terms of service).
SCHOOL CLOSING CONTROVERSY Notre Dame HighSchool was closed, after more than 50 years of education down by the Archdiocese of Detroit under order of Adam Cardinal Maida in June 2005 under questionable means, saying that the school was closed down because of "money issues", which is false because times more than the dept, that was stated, was pledged to keep the school open.
