Roman Battering Rams

Roman battering rams were a form of Weapon that the Romans used to destroy enemy constructs, such as walls and buildings.

Typically, they would be in the shape of a Pentagonal Prism . A log would be placed atop wheels which would allow a great weight to be moved with sufficient Momentum to cause damage. They measured roughly 10 feet in length. Arrows fired at them from a great distance rarely caused them any damage, but they remained vulnerable against attack from ground troops with Swords .

Later in history, during the Medieval period, battering rams became more complex and elaborate; they used Pulleys , Levers , sharpened logs and wheels that provided more stability.
