Information About

Roller Disco

To minimise the risk of injury, the organisers of roller discos often only allow participants to skate in one direction at a time, so that they do not crash into one another. Although many roller discos have a "free skate" section in the middle of the roller rink. Due to the fact that roller discos are often crowded and usually rather dark, with loud music playing, it is usually inadvisable to go to one unless one is proficient at skating.

A famous example of a roller disco can be observed in the motion picture 'Xanadu' , which was released in 1980 .

The roller disco experienced a revival in popularity in the early 2000's, notably in the mid-eastern United States.
