Information AboutRibald Youth |
''Ribald Youth'' is a webcomic created by Ryan Armand, running in total 37 parts (chapters) published on the internet for free from April 7, 2003 to July 26, 2005. It was a popular webcomic during its run, focusing on a four-day series of events centered around the central character, Mayo. Mayo is a young elementary student who encounters various other characters, including her best friends, the loyal but unforgiving Urara, and Gomada, who uses questionable fables to share his indispensable pearls of wisdom. ''Ribald Youth'' differs from most other webcomics because, although it is written in English, the style of the comic follows that of the typical Japanese manga, where each page is read from right to left. The titles of each chapter are also humorous in their " Engrish " feel, such as "Give it you all! Shining Robot!" (Part 2) and "Shake it you got!" (Part 6). There are recognizable themes from Japanese genres such as sports manga (which takes the form of a no holds barred game of dodgeball during gym class), and the classic Japanese gangster manga.
