ISSUES AND CAMPAIGN The election was one of the first held under the Grand Coalition in federal government. Thus, the big parties SPD and CDU did not attack each other as roughly as they used before 2006. The SPD was expected to profit from the personality of Kurt Beck , while the CDU ran again with their leader Christoph Böhr , who had already lost the elction 2001. RESULTS POST-ELECTION Kurt Beck (SPD) remained Minister-President, winning an outright majority. Beck offered the FDP to continue the coalition ("red-yellow"). The FDP, however, denied and will be an opposition party. The Alliance '90/The Greens lost their representation in the Landtag . SOURCES |
