Information About

Resources Of A Resource

Resources of a Resource or ROR is an XML convention used to map a website. The website's map is converted into an XML file that contains the list of links contained within a given website. The resulting file us usually called ror.xml or sitemap.xml.

This file is then deposited into the root directory of a website. When a search engine like Google or Yahoo searches the web to determine how to categorize content, the ROR file allows the search engines "spider" to quickly identify all the attributes of the website.

This has two main benefits.

  • 1. It allows the spider to correctly categorize the content of the website into its engine.

  • 2. It allows the website owner to optimize his site for inclusion into the search engine.
