Red Hot + Blue was the first in the series of Compilation Album s from the Red Hot Organization . The recording features contemporary Pop performers reinterpreting the several songs of Cole Porter , was the first in the Red Hot Series . Released in 1990 , it sold over a million copies worldwide and was heralded as one of the first major AIDS benefits in the music business. The accompanying Television Special featured Video Clip s created by renowned Film Director s for ''all but two'' of the songs. The clips portrayed the societal effects of AIDS.
