Radio-controlled Submarine

The radiocontrol (RC) world has many options for those who like to enjoy the feeling of controlling a scaled model from the distance (in fact, one would like to be behind the wheel!): airmodels, ship models, cars, even submarines, every kind of vehicle seems to be there waiting for us to control it.

Instead of talking about radiocontrol, servos, and all of that, I'd like to focus our attention on perhaps every RC pilot dream: piloting, diving (and retrieving!) a RC sub, better if it is homemade.

Building a RC sub may sound something far from feasible for everyone, but it's not that hard to achieve. At first, it depends on what type of sub you wish to build, mostly referring to the type of diving method: There are two, dynamic, using thrust and diving planes, and '''static''' diving, with ballast tanks, as the "real things". The first option is the relatively "easier" so you can have a start here.

You don't really need to follow a scale design, so what about bulding an experimental research sub from your own design, and from scratch, with items you find everywhere?

Here are some examples:

''Explorer RC sub, form PVC pipes (in Spanish, sorry, but with nice pics):''

Here you have links to ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicles). Most of them not RC (tethered) but maybe you'll get some nice ideas:
