For the Division of Fiji , see Central Division, Fiji The Central Division of the Queensland Rugby League is responsible for administering the game of Rugby League in Central Queensland from Miriam Vale and Gladstone in the south, west to Winton and north to Moranbah . There are 3150 players in this division, playing for 25 senior clubs and 32 junior clubs. The Central Division is also responsible for the administration of a representative team, the Central Capras. At the Junior State titles this year, a very understrengthed Under 14s side proved the talent in their depth by running second onlybeing beaten by a somewhat unbeatable South-East division. Although this team played extremely well throughout the week, there were some standout players including Rockhampton Brothers dynamic forward pair of Pat O'Hanlon and Samuel Hoare. Clermont product Callan Peach again was a force at lock and was very unlucky not to be selected in the state side. The Backline mixed it up all week, after losing half and centre Jay Stafford and Zared Crosby, they had to make some drastic changes, but the teams bond got them through whatever was to come. Coach Bob Chellingsworth said the teams bond was the best he had ever been involved in. The boys were spotted together as a team always by some Rockhampton townsfolk at locations such as Stockland Shopping centre, Main Beach Yeppoon, Botanic gardens and at The Jungle on East. A great effort boys, you are really great ambassadors for the community. EXTENDED DIVISION A GRADE The following clubs compete in the Extended Division A Grade:
Central Capras produced one of the biggest surpises in the annual QRL Junior State Titles. The State Titles are played between all 5 divisions of QRL. The U/14 Capras side came in long odds to win the Titles, but as the week progressed and the team kept on playing better more people began to notice their talent. A classy backline provided the firepower, whilst a no-frills forward pack was probably the best pack at the Titles. Most critics believed their strength was the forward pack. Second-rower Pat O'Hanlon, lock Callum Peach and prop Sam Hoare, were the standouts from this talented forward pack, and a majorority of attendees at the carnival believed they were unlucky not to make the Queensland Representative side. The week began with a come-from-behind win against their rivals from the north, the Northern Marlins. A try in the dying seconds to skilly centre, Joe Collin-soo, sealed the victory. A win against Southern Kookaburras on the second day of the carnival, cemented the Capras as a contender for first place. Although they played probably their worst game against the South-West Mustangs, they still notched up a victory. A draw against a talented Wide-Bay team still kept the Capras in contention for the major prize. Many people gave them a chance against favourites of the competition, the South-East Stingers. The game started well, with the Capras boys keeping the Stingers out of the end-zone for around 15 minutes, but soon after the tries began to come in bunches, and the South-East side ended up winning the game 32-0. It must be said that although the scoreline does not show it, the boys from C.Q. showed that when you make friendships off the field, the team plays better on it. A special mention must go out to Rob, Brad and Matt for great supervisory roles in the side, they all did a wonderful job as coach, assistant coach and manager respectively. This is probably one of the best, if not, the best junior sides Cental division has ever produced. U/14 Central Queensland Capras 2005 1. Sam Creedon 2. Kurt Effimenko 3. Joe Collins-soo 4.
