The Queen's Film Theatre, or QFT for short, is an Art House Cinema in Belfast , Northern Ireland . It is the largest cultural cinema in Ireland . It houses two medium sized screens featuring luxury French seating. In 2004 it underwent an extensive refurbishment and now includes a bright, modern Bar and a new entrance on to University Square, which is the site of its owners - the Queen's University Of Belfast . The QFT opened in 1968 . Financial difficulties and problems with attracting funding have dogged the cinema over the years, but it has remained in constant operation apart from a short closure in 1972 . It currently has a sponsorship deal with Stella Artois . Michael Open, a former student at Queen's, was the cinema's director from 1968 until 2004. Stella Hall now directs operations, as well as running the Belfast Festival At Queen's . The QFT also hosts the majority of the Belfast Film Festival screenings. EXTERNAL LINK Official Website |
