Upon prestening their idea to the Padishah Emperor , Elrood IX , their were granted the right to occupy the planet Ix . The old Emperor wanted to remove the spice monopoly, and there through making sure that he had the only acces to the spice, thus controlling the Spacing Guild . The Tleilaxu started to remake the to a laboratory station, now named ''Xuttuh''. In the year 10,156 A.G., Elrood IX was assassinated by the Imperial Court's Eunuch , Hasimir Fenring, and the Crown Prince Shaddam . Now under the name of Shaddam IV, he gave Fenring the title of ''Imperial Spice Minister'', and ordered him to supervie the project. Although the Tleilaxu managed to create a somewhat likely form of protein as melange, it didn't work properly. The test- Sandworm s exploded, Navigators turned blind and could not find safe routes for folding space and it ended in catastrophy. When Duke Leto Atreides invaded Xuttuh in 10,175 A.G., and reastablished Prince Rhombur of House Vernius as the Earl of Ix, all the records of the project were destroyed. When the news hit the Landsraad , Shaddam denied all participating, claiming never to have heard of it, and that it all was probably something his senile father Elrood had done in his last days. The Tleilaxu-masters involved were finally executed. |
