In the Royal Navy , prize money is the money paid out to the Crew of a Ship as a Reward for its capture. Generally it is distributed to all ships in sight of the captured ship. Two eighths of the prize money goes to the captains, generally propelling them further in political and financial circles. One eighth of the money goes to the crew. |
