HISTORY The Alliata family is perhaps the most ancient aristocratic family in Europe. The family traces its origins to an Imperial "decretus" that dates back to 325 , when the Roman Emperor Constantine The Great gave to the patrice Alciata (Alicatus) of Milan the Earldom of Italy. In 530 the Earl Dacius Alliata became Archbishop Of Milan , when he died in 552 he was declared saint by the Pope with a Feast Day on January 14 . Subsequently, in the 12th Century , the family resettled to Pisa and then to Palermo where they conquered 9 titles of Prince , including ''Prince of the Holy Roman Empire '', the title of "Gentiluomo di camera di Sua Santità ", a title of Archduke linked with Von Haugsburg family, two titles of Duke, 1 title of Marquis, 18 titles of Earl, and 8 titles of Baron.
