HISTORICAL ERROR

The song contains an error regarding the assassination of Dr. King. The first line of the last chorus (which references the assassination) reads "Early morning, April 4/Shot rings out in the Memphis sky." However, Dr. King was assassinated shortly after 6 ''PM'', not in the early morning. Bono admits he "screwed up" when writing the lyrics and in live performances he sometimes changes the lyric to "Early evening..."

TRIVIA

Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders sings back-up vocals. She was thanked in the credits as, 'Christine Kerr'. Chrissie was married to Jim Kerr of Simple Minds fame at the time.
