Information About

Preston City Council Elections

The Lancashire city of Preston is in the north west of England . The City council is elected 'in thirds' each year, with three-member wards elected each year and two-member wards alternated to ensure councillors serve a full term each year.

The next City Council elections are timetabled for May 2006 , following a break in 2005 for the General Election and Lancashire County Council elections. ''See UK Local Elections, 2006 for other elections in 2006''

Preston City Council currently elects 56 Councillors from 22 electoral wards.

In Riversway ward, the current Independent councillor will not defend his seat; whilst in Sharoe Green the former Conservative councillor, who defected to the Liberal Democrats, has also decided not to fight her seat this year.
