Preemphasis is commonly used in Telecommunication s, Digital Audio recording, Record cutting, in FM Broadcasting Transmission s, and in displaying the Spectrogram s of speech signals.

An example of this is the RIAA Equalization curve on 33rpm and 45rpm Vinyl Records .
