The Banshee was powered by a 230 Horsepower fuel-injected, dual overhead cam V8 engine. The four-seat automobile had a sleek and sensuous futuristic design. The dashboard featured a touch-sensative video display that monitored all vehicle functions. Other read outs were part of a HUD system (heads up display) that projected speed, engine RPM, and fuel level on the windshield in the driver's field of vision. The rear spolier was also adjustable. A vehicle modeled after the Banshee appeared as the "Knight Industries 4000" in the '' Knight Rider 2000 '' sequel movie, although a customized 1991 Dodge Stealth was actually used. A 1960's concept of the Chevrolet Corvette was created by John De Lorean and named the Banshee however, GM scrapped the project and later had a Pontiac concept made off the Camaro platform. The Pontiac concept can also be seen briefly in the 1993 movie '' Demolition Man '' parallel parked near the entrance to Taco Bell . A Mattel brand scale model was also made of the Banshee. |
