Elfstrom Stadium is named after Philip B. Elfstrom , the former Kane County Forest Preserve President, and the person most responsible for bringing minor league baseball to Kane County.

The Forest Preserve's Elfstrom Stadium serves as the friendly home of the Kane County Cougars , an Oakland Athletics affiliated Class A minor league baseball team. The stadium was constructed in 1991 , and in 1992 the Cougar set a league attendance record of 322,259.

Elfstrom Stadium is also the official home of the Illinois High School Association 's (IHSA) Division AA final baseball tournament. A number of high school, college, and organized leagues play their games at Elfstrom Stadium throughout the baseball season.
