HOW TO PLAY Requirements
Playing The first player starts by placing their coin on the edge of the table, so one part is on the table and the other part is teetering over the edge. They must try to hit the coin 3 times with their hand so that after 3 hits it teeters on the opposing edge of the table (the touchline). If it fails to reach this line in 3 shots, no points are scored, but if they are successful, they are said to have scored a Try , and get 5 points. They can then try for a Conversion , whereby they spin the coin on the table, and try to pick it up mid-spin using only the thumbs, the other player makes a goalpost-like structure with their hands and the coin must be thrown over the goal to score 2 points. Whether or not any points have been scored play then passes to the second player who begins play in the same way. This game is also played without any rugby references. Normally after the coin hangs off the edge of the table no points are gained. To score the coin must be flicked upwards (so that if the coin is only just on the edge it is harder to score) and caught. It is then spun on the table and caught between two thumbs. The other player must then offer football goals ( thumbs on the table, index fingers touching), rugby goals (thumbs touching, index fingers pointing up), or even basketball goals (flat palm) at the other end of the table. If the player manages all this and scores, they may be awarded different numbers of points, e.g., 1 for football, 2 for rugby, 5 for basketball. SEE ALSO |
