Information About

Pendeford

Most of the area is a housing estate built in the 1970s and 1980s , on the site of the former Wolverhampton Aerodrome and the Bolton & Paul aircraft factory.

Pendeford also has a large Morrisons supermarket, several smaller shops and a community centre. Smaller shops include Choices, Dillons, and Home and Motorsave.

There are two primary schools next to these shops, St. Pauls, and Priory Green. St Pauls doubles as a church and a cafe. A canal runs through the area, bordering the local housing estates including Oxley, Fordhouses, and Dovecotes. Dovecotes was also part of Pendeford, as was Aldersley. The area also has a small brook running through it, but its original position has moved.

The whole area was once an airfield during the second world war, and became Wolverhampton airport in the 1950's. A memorial to this can be seen on the walls of the newest estate within Pendeford.
