Information About

Pendeen

Overlooking Pendeen is a hill above the church which the locals have nicknamed "Slidehill Cemetery", because of the graves at the bottom. Like many other old Cornish coast villages, Pendeen was believed to be a secret place for smuggling activities off shore. One mile down a coast road from Boscaswell sits Pendeen Lighthouse and its noticeable fog-warning siren can be heard from miles around.
