Pascoe Vale station was initially opened on November 10 , 1885 by the Victorian Government's railway service. Sections of the line had previously been operated by the Melbourne and Essendon Railway Company, but they had folded and their lines were bought by the Government in 1867 . The line didn't resume operation until 1871 owing to the amount of maintainence required on the infrastructure. However, the current platform buildings are not original.
