Parker City is a town located in Randolph County, Indiana . As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,416. GEOGRAPHY Parker City is located at 40°11'25" North, 85°12'12" West (40.190201, -85.203351). According to the United States Census Bureau , the town has a total area of 1.5 Km&2 (0.6 Mi&2 ). 1.5 km&2 (0.6 mi&2) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. It is located at an Elevation of 1025 feet. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 1,416 people, 549 households, and 390 families residing in the town. The Population Density was 942.6/km&2 (2,444.0/mi&2). There were 595 housing units at an average density of 396.1/km&2 (1,026.9/mi&2). The racial makeup of the town was 99.15% White , 0.14% African American , 0.14% Native American , 0.07% Asian , 0.07% Pacific Islander , 0.07% from Other Races , and 0.35% from two or more races. 0.35% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 549 households out of which 33.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.5% were Married Couples living together, 13.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 2.91. In the town the population was spread out with 24.9% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 88.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.3 males. The median income for a household in the town was $34,500, and the median income for a family was $38,984. Males had a median income of $31,875 versus $20,909 for females. The Per Capita Income for the town was $16,552. 12.8% of the population and 9.9% of families were below the Poverty Line . 26.5% of those under the age of 18 and 6.9% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
