The Papal Cross is a large white Cross situated in the Phoenix Park , Dublin , Ireland . The Cross was erected for the visit of Pope John Paul II in 1979 . At the Cross, the Pope said Mass for over a million people. Following his death on April 2 , 2005 , people gathered in tribute to Pope John Paul at the Cross, leaving flowers and tokens of remembrance for him. SEE ALSO |
