Information About

Palmerstown

at the Mill Race in Palmerstown]]

The area is situated near a major junction of the M50 Motorway (running from north to south) and N4 Road (passing east to west). Prior to construction of the N4 (which now acts as the main arterial road for traffic entering and exiting Dublin city to and from the west) the Old Lucan Road was the main thoroughfare into the city from the west, and it passes through Palmerstown village. The area is bordered in the south and southeast by Ballyfermot , in the west by Clondalkin and Lucan, and in the east by the village of Chapelizod .

Palmerstown is situated near the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre , which lies on the opposite side of the M50 to Palmerstown and takes it's name from the picturesque Liffey valley which lies nearby.

Stewarts Hospital , which provides care to people with intellectual disabilities is located just outside Palmerstown village. The impressive hospital building which overlooks the Liffey valley is also an administrative centre for the Health Services Executive (HSE), which is responsible for providing health and personal social services to Irish people.

While the village is located north of the N4 dual carraigeway, the majority of the population of Palmerstown live on the other side, where there are several extensive housing estates and the main local shopping and amenities centre.
