= History =
The Outdoor Basketball Association founded on October 28 , class="copylinks">1976 In [[New York City . At the time, it was called the '''Super Outdoor Basketball League'''. The teams were only based in the New York - New Jersey area. The first season was played in April of 1977 .

It was until the year 1980 when the league went cross-country, with the formation of the ''OBA''' got larger with 12 clubs (6 east and 6 west). The only clubs from New York that stayed were Brooklyn Bridge Basketball Club , Jersey City Admirals , and Sheldon Sonics .

The league expanded clubs every season until 1994 when there was some minor budget promblems associated with the league. The 1995 season was cancelled.

The OBA today, averages about 11,000 fans a game and each club is moderatly known in their areas.
