The Order of New Brunswick, established in 2000 , is the highest honour of the Province of New Brunswick . A maximum of 10 individuals are awarded annually. PURPOSE The Order of New Brunswick recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence and achievement. As well, individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the social, cultural or economic well-being of the province and its residents are recognized. ELIGIBILITY Any Canadian citizen who is a present or former long-term resident of New Brunswick is eligible for nomination to the Order. Elected representatives presently serving in the House Of Commons , the Senate , the Provincial Legislature and judges of any court are not eligible for nomination. The Order may be given after a person's death if the individual's name has been approved for membership prior to that individual's death and, in exceptional circumstances. ADVISORY COUNCIL The Chancellor of the Order of New Brunswick is the Lieutenant-Governor of the province. Other members include:
