Within these areas the following software components are avaiable ETL Enhydra Octopus - A Java based ETL Tool Bee Project - A suite of tools for Business Intelligence CloverETL Project - A Java based ETL tool with visual transformations designer KETTLE - A Java based ETL tool with a sophisticated visual designer. Recently released under the LGPL, and includes the largest variety of prebuilt components. Also has built in support for ETL repositories. OLAP See Also: Open Source OLAP REPORTING OpenI - Is a J2EE based reporting front end, allowing reporting on ODBO compliant datasources via XMLA. At the time of writing it supported mondrian and Analysis Services, with plans to offer relational reporting in addition. Unlike some of the other reporting products OpenI allows dynamic slice and dice capabilities. A key component which OpenI utilises for its reporting is JPivot a set of JSP tags allowing the rendering of OLAP data using XMLA. Jasper Reports - Is a Reporting solution build in java Open Reports - Is a web based reporting product which can utilise Jasper. It can produce parameterised reports and integrate into Portals. BIRT - This is an open source reporting solution which allows the use of the ever popular Eclipse IDE. It has backing Actuate, a large company in the reporting environment. XMLA Browser – This is an open source OLAP reporting tool for Microsoft Analysis Services . It is using Microsoft XML for Analysis SDK. DATA MINING Weka Is a java based machine learning algorithm suitable for data mining R - Project - R is a statistical language, it is developed for the Unix, Windows and the Mac families of operating systems. DATA WAREHOUSE Bizgres - A distribution of the open source PostgreSQL database with modifications specifically for Data Warehousing environments. It is sponsored by Greenplum , which has their own clustered commercial product based on Bizgres. Another vendor that allows you to cluster Bizgres is ExtenDB . FULL PRODUCT STACK MarvelIT - Offer consulting and services based around a stack of open source database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Firebird) - ETL (Octopus) and Reporting (OpenReports and Jasper) ObjectWeb - A European open source consortium has now turned its attention to Business Intelligence as part of its middleware stack after one of its members contributed SpagoBI, a BI platform built on the Spago J2EE framework. SpagoBI offers reporting, dashboarding and data mining, additionally it claims to be able to integrate with commercial BI vendors such as Cognos and Business Objects. It can be integrated in portals using existing free ObjectWeb technologies. ObjectWeb have ETL capabilities with Octopus and a Workflow Engine called Enhydra Shark, with the integration of such technolgies a complete stack should be available. Pentaho are pulling together many of the above products and solutions in a single cohert open source framework. The product offering includes reporting, dashboards, OLAP, Analysis, Data Mining and a Workflow Engine. DecisionStudio-Professional is an advanced graphical dektop data mining, reporting, modeling, and analysis environment built on top of the best-of-breed open source projects including MySQL, R-Project, iReport, JasperReports, and Python with BoaConstructor IDE. It is a dektop BI platform that provides comprehensive capabilities to each role in the analytics value chain. |
