Gallagher , established Stillwater as a destination for wrestlers, winning 11 championships in the first 13 years of NCAA competition. Although that pace was not sustained in recent years, current coach John Smith has set a new school record with 229 dual wins to date and national championships in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.

GOLF

OSU plays its home matches at Karsten Creek Golf Course, which opened in 1994 as Golf Digest 's Best New Public Course. It hosted the NCAA Men's Championship in 2003.

The men's squad has qualified for the NCAA Championship in each of its 59 seasons, a feat unmatched by any other program in the country. In its storied history, the team has won nine national championships, has produced seven individual national champions and won the conference 49 times.

Current coach Frank Anderson led the team to their first Big 12 tournament title in 2004.

TRADITIONS

"The Trilogy" is considered Oklahoma State's fight song, although it is really comprised of three songs; the "Waving Song," "Waving Song," and the "Dr. Who's theme song." The Waving Song was inspired by "In Old New York," from the operetta ''The Red Mill''. The Waving Song is played after every OSU touchdown at football games and after a Cowboy victory in basketball or wrestling, while Cowboy fans all wave one of their arms in unison.

The school's alma mater is played at twenty past the hour by the campus's Carillon , and in recent years, the alma mater has become a postgame tradition at football games.

Since 1984, at the beginning of each home game and after every OSU touchdown, the "Spirit Rider" appears to stir up the crowd.

RIVALRIES

Oklahoma State and the University Of Oklahoma have a long-standing intra-state rivalry known as Bedlam . The series, sponsored by Ford and the Bank Of Oklahoma , is based upon an all-sports points system. Each individual sport's champion is awarded a crystal bell trophy, and the overall series champion gets a larger trophy called the Bedlam Bell.

Other often-cited rivalries, often driven by mutual success, are the wrestling rivalry with the Iowa Hawkeyes and a basketball rivalry with the University Of Kansas .
